16 Guernseys from 8 exhibitors were forward to be judged by Chris Lang (Springhill Guernsey Ohio USA) and was the best quality turnout at this show for several years. With more than 10,000 dairy farmers at the show over the two days it must/should become the focus for EGCS as it has become for the Ayrshire and Brown Swiss breeds, and for the first time the Brown Swiss were winners of the Supreme title with the Ayrshires in Reserve.
The in milk animals were judged on the first day with 5 good in milk heifers first into the ring and Chris Lang preferred Bourton Fiona 13th (Double L) from the Norman and Sales Partners, with Hinton Holly 13th (Novak) in second place , Blacknor Cracker Weston Clare was third ,with Hinton Sheila 3rd (Lyndell ) in fourth place and Trewey Jackie (Andante) from the Phillips family in fifth
Three Junior cows were again an impressive class and Briddlesford Laredos Bluebell from the Griffin family was placed first with Blacknor Cracker Banger Bear second and Wiltown Claudia in third place
The Championship was awarded to Bluebell who has since been sold to the Glanmor herd in Carmarthenshire, with the heifers Bourton Fiona 13 and Hinton Holly 13 as Reserve and Hon Mention.
Day two was reserved for the Maiden and in calf heifers and proved a red letter day for the hard working Adams family, they with the help of Sally Phillips and Jo Anne and Elissa Langley prepared 10 of the 16 animals forward.
Four maiden heifers saw Wiltown Patience (VIP) in first place , with Trewey Legend Joanne 5 in second place with Bickfield Indus ( Phonze) in third and Robert Page’s Blanches Poesy in fourth.
Four in calf heifers saw a first win of the season for Hinton Nancy (Phonze) with Wiltown Annabelle ( Andante) both from the Adams and Trewey Plumb Crazy for the Addington Fund third and Robert Page’s Bourton heifer in fourth place
The Championship was awarded to Wiltown Patience with Trewey Legend Jo Anne in Reserve a fitting reward for the Adams family.
