North Somerset Show May 2nd 2016

The first show of the season took place at Wraxall near Bristol on Bank Holiday Monday, May 2nd.

Three exhibitors had 7 animals forward and with the absence of the Parfitt Family and the Bickfield Herd who are once again under movement restrictions, it was up to The Limmond family and Richard Norman and the Sales Family to provide a Guernsey presence at the  show.

Judge for the day was Chris Watson and here are his judges comments.

The opening show of the season was dominated by Messrs Norman and Sales and the threat of rain which arrived as we were going into Lunch.

The first class was for Maiden Heifer under 14 months. The Norman & Sales team having two useful Pinto spring calves which I split with a very sweet October born Navajo daughter of Richard Normans.

We had one in milk heifer Lucky Cow Lavender by Four Winds Dynamic, who was only 10 days calved. She was my Champion and might have been Supreme if less fresh and carried more milk. She is owned by Norman and Sales as was the Reserve Champion cow shown Dry by Andante, Bickfield Linda 68. (Linda was the ABAB Guernsey Champion in 2014-Editor)

Champion and Reserve.

TB effected numbers but quality was high and all the exhibitors should be congratulated for their support of this important season opener.
