Six young handlers were representing the Guernsey breed in the ABAB at Stoneleigh, with Ayrshire. British Friesian, Dairy Shorthorn and Jersey young handlers with 123 in the catalogue, the U12 class drew 39 and was split into 2 and Margaret Thomas and Shannon Dawes both did very well .
The other age group classes were not split and the Judge made a short list of 15, which looked to be difficult for those entering the ring at the end to get noticed or to have room to show their calves, but having said that several former winners were again in the mix. Andrew Thomas did make the top 15 so well done to him and to Michael Dawes.
Two mature handlers Michael Moody and Martyn Dean also impressed and they went on to be Champion and Reserve with Andrew Thomas as Hon Mention
Mike Moody was a very happy man, particularly as his calf Latifa Princess Leia is the first homebred heifer in the second chapter of the Latifa herd, which was originally the prefix of his grandfather Alec Vincent.
