Merion Jones sold his Aber herd through Carmarthen Market yesterday and enjoyed a tremendous trade with 41 /47 cows making over £1000 with 2 animals making the top price of £2050.
Lot 253 Bourton Savard Clover H84 was purchased by Andrew Lewis for his Hartland View Herd alongwith 28 others
Lot 263 Aber Pales Violet 13 VG 87 was purchased by Colin Evans for his Hilcol herd , he also purchased Lot 294 Aber Mint Duchess 13 H84 for £1700
Mr Smith from Carmarthen bought six cows including Lot 260 Aber Eric Valerie H81 for £1620, and she was one of several daughters of Lot 292 Easby Valerie 3 Ex91 bought by Andrew Lewis for £1750 whose yearling daughter Lot 292A Aber Edward Valerie 3 was bought by Alan Thomas (Kimcote) for £1020 .
Alan did succeed in buying Lot 276 Aber Royal Oak Susan 6 Ex 92 and at the end of her 5th lactation, her son by VIP (Aber Sampson) is to have semen collected by EGCS for distribution by Genus. Alam also purchased 3 of the baby calves born since the catalogue went to press.
John David ( Arthmoor) was buying in calf heifers and paid £1450 for Lot 300 Aber Saturn Elegy 2
James Warren was buying calves for Tredinney out of the proven cow families and these included a VIP yearling daughter for £740 of Lot 278 Aber Rob Roy Susan 8 Ex 90 who was bought for £1800 by Andrew Lewis.
James Bartlett bought 5 calves for his families Hinton Herd and these included Lot 303 Aber Blue Violet 20 for £640
A very good result for the breed on a day when Holstein Friesians were proving more difficult to sell.
