Twenty Guernsey Calves were exhibited at this years All Britain All Breed Calf Show at Stoneliegh.  Laura Sales, our Future Golden Breeders Co-ordinator, worked very diligently to persuade 10 exhibitors to make the journey to Warwickshire.

Old hands -- Emma Greenslade, Ian Crouch, Norman and Mills, The Dean Family, Brian and Sheila Adams and Olive Farm -- were joined by newcomers:  Jason and Emily Salisbury, Robert Page, R. Crank and The Fallows (Elsie and her Grandaughters, Natalie, Jessica and Millie).  Joining these exhibitors to handle the calves were Amy Alywin, Kirsten Bevis, Bethan Senior and the Langley girls (Jo, Elissa and Justina).

Saturday saw the Handling Classes where our members were up against all the Coloured Breeds.

In the novice class, eight year old Emily Salisbury was our represenative and showed no nerves in a class of 10. Well done Emily for doing so well and picking up a rossette.

The next class for under 12 years on 1 Jan 2009 saw Bethan Senior as our highest placed handler, Chloe Paull was 2nd Guernsey handler followed by Millie Fallows, who on her first outing showed great promise after one lesson from Laura and myself the previous evening.

In the intermediate class for handlers between 13 and 15 Amy Alywin was highest placed followed by Jenny Paull and Jessica Fallows who was also on her premiere outing.

The senior handlers were topped by Emma Greenslade who was actually placed second in the class. Martyn Dean and Natalie Allen followed in the Guernsey placings.

In the Championship, the 2 highest place handlers from each breed competed for their honours. Judge Paul Harrison gave the Guernsey Championship to Emma Greenslade. Amy Alywin was reserve and Martyn Dean, Hon Mention.

Sunday was taken over by the Calf Classes. Our Judge was well known Holstein/Jersey breeder Mr Jeff Daw from the Normead herd near Swindon.
