The question of placing classified advertisements on this website came up this afternoon.

Yes, absolutely, we have a place where you can place a free sale or wanted advertisement, and can even do it yourself if you so desire.

This is on the forum --- just click the big blue button on the left (please scroll down).

To go directly to the For Sale & Wants section, please click here.  You can also post comments on the items advertised, and (if you've managed to sell your item, or find what you're looking for) please take a moment to close off the posting.

I am always happy to post items here, in what has become known as the "main" part of the website.  Please contact me directly, as that should be faster than going through the EGCS office.

My view is that the "main" part of the website --- which you are reading now --- is like the front of a newspaper, and articles should be posted here.  If, therefore, you want to tell folks about items (cattle?) for sale, the article would be more effective if you could send information to include.  If you want to sell cattle, it would be nice to have their details and photographs.

Please get in touch if you have any questions, or if I can assist in any way.

Comments?  Suggestions?  Always welcome --- you can simply post them, as with any article on this website, below.

Hi, Ray ---

Yes, absolutely. The more advertisements the better. I am trying to get folks to visit that part of the website regularly.

Please let me know if you have any difficulties posting your ad and I will do my best to assist.

I've just found that Mount Prosperous (that is Jethro Tull's Berkshire Farm isn't it?)is due to disperse its pedigree herd in about June 2009.Do you whenor it is happening? As I would not like to upset the herdspeople at the farm and this is not actually confirmed or announced anywhere officially I just would like to know if it is an auction or a livestock sale at a local market or is the whole farm with cows, hiefers (maybe a bull and calves too) is going to be sold (hopefully) on the farm. Presumably reading about the demand for Guernseys the healthy cows, bulls and calves being high quality pedigrees at this farm will go other fine dairy herds who want good breeding and milking stock.
A few years ago I went to the open day and sampled thier new cheese but I can't remember its name. Do you know its name and if I'll be able to get more Guernsey semi skimmed milk and creme fraiche I also love the yogurt as well particularly the seasonal fruit flavours such as the raspberry and strawberry. I think there could be quite a good demand for semi-skimmed Guernsey milk it would be great if it was in supermarkets.
Despite my mad comments about the fate of some calves and animals I do feel that this herd is being dispersed because of the recession and the expected retirement of the older herdperson who has told me he has always been very of his cows. Here is a great oppurtunity for many farmers to know more about this breeds advantages.

LOOKING TO RENT WHOLE/PART FARM ANYWAHERE.
Well I didnt think I'd be looking to relocate so quickly.I'm in a sort of sharefarming agreement nr Harrogate. There are proplems with my living accom because of planning laws.Having to milk the other persons fresian cows some of which have major problems and they wont part with any of them when im paying to lease them.Sheep on every field which im told the sheep come first but leaving me grassless.I feel this cant go on without hassle .I've bred dairy shorthorns since i was in school and started with guernseys last year.I have about equalnumbers 42 head at present. The 2 breeds mix well,I want toincrease the guernseys.Dairy farmers of britain my milkbuyer as of uptoday April first have cut back mlk price 5 1/2plitre since Dec.
I dont want to give up, my cows are my friends as well as my bread and butter.
Im looking for some good grassland and decent buildings[i have a good abreast parlour and cubicles now],at a price I can afford to pay for 45 cow max yng stock and me .I'm single only need basic no fancy accom. The occasional relief milker and someone interested in showing wouldnt go amiss.
Does anyone have anything they might be able to offer me[I dont mind milking and caring for a few of someone elses cattle to]Im a tradionalist breeding cattle the old fashioned way.
my no. is 07774878134 [after 8pm best]
