Reports on Channel 5 news has created a considerable increase in the enquiries about Guernsey milk and where it can be obtained. Unfortunately there is no pure Guernsey milk sold in any of the supermarkets at present, but this is being worked on and when we have any positive news it will appear on these pages. In the meanwhile, if there is no local supply in your area some of the suppliers listed below can have their milk and milk products delivered to you. Abel & Cole ships by courier throughout the United Kingdom.
Please note that “Channel Island” milk, while being an excellent product, is not entirely Guernsey milk and in some cases may not contain any Guernsey milk at all. Freezing pasteurised milk is possible if handled carefully. Homogenised milk can be frozen without difficulty.
If you have any corrections, additions, etc., to this list, please contact us.
New! Available Nationally
Abel and Cole now ships 100% Guernsey milk throughout the country. Their website indicates:
Through working with our dairy farmer, Nick Gosling at Berkeley Farm
Dairy, we are able to bring you this deliciously creamy, 100% pure
Guernsey milk.
There is some evidence to suggest that a
product made entirely from Guernsey milk (which contains high levels of
the A2 variety of a protein called beta-casein) has special health
benefits. Although some people contest the scientific research behind
this, we recognised the demand for it – and it tastes heavenly!
Like
all Nick's milk, this 100% Guernsey is unhomogenized. It's milk the
old-fashioned way. It's also extremely fresh. When you place your order
the milk may not have even left the cow!
All of our milk is pasturised.

Is there anywhere that I can purchase this milk in the USA? I am from
England and I love the taste of Jersey and Guernsey Milk it really cannot
compare to "regular" milk. If you could send me a reply I would really
appreciate it. Thank you. Kim

Hi, Kim --
Great idea. I've posted a message on the Yahoo list for Guernsey breeders
(which seems to have mainly American farmers) to see if they'd like to add
their details to our directory here.
In the meantime, I'm told you can contact Seth Johnson, the Executive
Secretary - Treasurer of the American Guernsey Association. His e-mail
address is sjohnson@usguernsey.com -- and is located in Tunbridge,
Vermont.
Please let us know how this works out.
Thanks,

Hi everyone. Got a little lad of 3 who is autistic. Just heard about this
news report and of course I'm going to try it. Searched the internet and
found that Sainsburys and Tesco among others stock Gold Top milk. It is
made from guernsey cows with the A2 protein in it.
Craig W Walsh
13 Nov 2008, 13:29
Hi Linda ---
Gold Top Milk (which we promote with the banner on the left of this page)
contains Channel Island milk. This is a mixture of Jersey and Guernsey
milk, and I am reliably informed that Gold Top is primarily Jersey milk.
The properties described in the Channel 5 news piece today relate
specifically to Guernsey milk, and (unfortunately) not to Jersey milk.
While Gold Top milk is certainly more convenient to purchase than pure
Guernsey milk, please do not be misled into thinking that Gold Top is pure
Guernsey milk --- it's not. As indicated on the Gold Top website, "Gold
Top and Breakfast Milk are unique in that the milk comes exclusively from
pedigree herds of Jersey & Guernsey cows – frequently referred to by the
dairy trade as 'Channel Islands milk.'"
The list, above, are the only known producers of pure Guernsey milk in the
U.K. who retail to the public. Gold Top is not pure Guernsey milk, and may
not even be 50% Guernsey milk.
No doubt if I'm mistaken others will add their comments to this page.
Thanks!
Craig

Our milk has a seven day shelf life, this is about the norm for all fresh
milk. We have done trials on freezing and the full fat does not freeze
well, However it is not homogenised. If the demand is there we will start
to produce skim and semi skimmed milk, these freeze better, and can also
provide next day delivery, but will need a few days to organise this.
I beleive there are good networks between parents and schools so may I
advise combined orders to help with the cost of delivery.

Liz -
You should be aware that Gold Top milk is merely “Channel Island” milk ---
a blend of Jersey milk and Guernsey milk. Jersey milk apparently does not
have the same properties as Guernsey milk. I am reliably informed that the
majority of Gold Top milk is from Jersey cows.
The milk featured in the Channel 5 programme was from Guernsey cows.
Unfortunately none of the grocery stores sell pure Guernsey milk --- you’d
need to purchase it from one of the farmers listed above.
A couple of the EGCS farmers are working on selling pure Guernsey milk
online, and shipping it via courier.
I appreciate that you want to do anything to help your son, and I just
wanted to be sure that you understood the difference between Gold Top (so
called “Channel Islands” milk) and Guernsey milk.

To all of you that have used Guernsey milk and/or yogurt with your
children.
We would be very interested to know the results whether they were either
good or had no effect. If you could also let us know he type of autisism,
this would also be helpful
Our reason for wanting to know these results are twofold:-
Firstly, so that we can pass on the message to other suffers
Secondly, so that we have information that will encourage Shops and
supermarkets to put the milk on the shelf to make it easier for all to
access the products.
If you do not want to use this site please email me at

thought like most, we must give it a go! 6 months on, we are so pleased

He is now engaging in a conversation much more than before, his speech and

a difference!

I'm visiting the UK from Australia, where I've been following the A2 milk
story since it fist broke there in about 2003. It's disappointing to see
the poor penetration it seems to have achieved here - but it's the same in
Western Australia for some reason, while the eastern states are better
supplied.
Noticing the number of parents writing in here with kids with ASD or other
behavioural difficulties, I wanted to draw your attention to the Food
Intolerance Network at
http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/
It's an Australian site but with masses of information that may help you
(including mentioning A2 milk!).

We want to try this for my nephew, who is diagnosed autistic, but he

anyone know if this will not work as I saw a comment about how you can't

him to have that way?
Advice appreciated as we are keen to get him on the milk asap and can't
think of any other way he'll take it.

27 Jul 2009, 18:34
Charlotte. The milk you drink on the Island all comes from your local
pedigree Guernsey cows. Guernesy milk differs from other milks in several
ways. It is higher in fat. protein and calcium than the milks you buy on
the mainland. The special benefit is that the beta casein is 90%+ of the
A2 variant whereas most other milks are 70%+ of the A1 variant. It is also
higher in Beta Carotene
A2 milk is reported to be helpful with children`s behavourial problems,
xuch as Autism. This has not been scientifically proven but there is a lot
of anecdotal evidence. There are quite a number of people buying Guernsey
Milk for there Autistic Children and getting a lot of benefit from it.
If you want to know more I suggest you contact the Guernsey Dairy on the
Island.
