As a last minute stand in Judge, I was pleasantly surprised to find five exhibitors showing deep in East Anglian territory, a great effort away from the main Guernsey areas.
 |
| Heifer in Calf Class |
The first class of the day saw 4 entries in the Heifer in Calf class. Ron Smith headed this with an Old Homestead Dividend heifer, Instead Beauty 33, who had the advantage over the rest of the class by having a greater and more correct udder development combined with more body capacity and deeper rib. 2nd was Ellie Cole with a Tiller Loren heifer, Instead Ophelia 8, who had the advantage over 3rd with greater stature and front teat placement. Sir Howard in 3rd with a Cresthill Magic Lucky heifer, White Ladies Gillian 74, who had the advantage over 4th placed Nigel and Anne Kennard with another Dividend heifer, Instead Beauty 32, by virtue of wider rib capacity and more developed udder with wider teat placings.
 |
| Dry Cow Class |
The Dry cow class was lead by a stylish, deep and wide ribbed Mr Luck, Sharnford Clemie, with a nice well attached udder from Jason and Katharine Salisbury. Two Dividends, Instead Beauty 29 and Instead Clarissa 2, in 2nd and 3rd from Nigel and Anne who were stylish and had the advantage of stature over the 4th placed super 9th calver, Georgeann Margaret, by Slindon Primrose Ned from Ron Smith, who had the advantage over the 5th placed, Thornton Ibis, by Treloweth Karen Oak also from Ron by having superior front teat placement.
 |
| Heifer in Milk Class |
The Heifers in Milk were lead by Sir Howard with a long and stylish Mr Luck, White Ladies Ruby 93, who had a well attached udder with good teat position. Then two very nice heifers in 2nd and 3rd , Wayford Amelia 2 and Bentley Highness Kirsty, from Ron who weren’t carrying as much milk as the 1st but had the advantage in the rump and udder over a 4th placed Robinson Montrose 7 daughter, Wayford Pride 2, also from Ron.
 |
| Junior Cow in Milk Class |
The Junior Cows in Milk were headed by a very nice and stylish Mr Luck, Sharnford Marigold, who had a very good wide rear udder and was perfectly stocked from Jason and Katharine. 2nd was a Claude, Instead Clarissa, from Nigel and Anne who was very correct in the body and legs and feet and had the advantage of style over the 3rd placed Sting Boy, Thornton Topaz, from Ron.
 |
| Senior Cow in Milk Class |
The Senior Cows in Milk had a very close placing between Nigel and Anne in 1st with a Lindon Sultan, Instead Beauty 25, who was very dairy with length and had great bone quality which gave her the advantage over 2nd placed Sir Howard with an Amarillos Talisman, White Ladies Ruby 91, who was not as deep ribbed as 1st and not quite as even in the rear udder, but had the advantage of superior foreudder over 3rd placed Jason and Katharine with a Goliath Lucas, Woodbury Raven, who had the advantage of style and bone quality over 4th placed Ron with a Chiddingstone Gregory, Wayford Clarissa.
The production standard class was lead by White.Ladies.Ruby 91 from Sir Howard and the Group of Three from Nigel and Anne with an even and balanced trio.
 |
| Champion Sharnford Marigold with Jason Salisbury |
The Championship went to Jason and Katharine with Sharnford Marigold who was in great form on the day, and who also took the Reserve Interbreed title, well done to them.
Reserve went to Nigel and Anne with Instead Beauty 25, and an Honorable Mention to Sir Howard with White Ladies Ruby 91.
 |
| Zoe Gaffer with Instead Beauty 39 |
The only Guernsey entrant in the Coloured Breeds Young Handlers, who were placed third for both handling and the calf.

Well done to Jason and Katherine on their first Championship. Marigold is a
lovely dairy cow, very worthy of her Reserve Interbreed success. I wonder
how she would have fared against competition at this years Bath & West. I
expect she would have given us a run for our money!!!!
I would personally like to thank Andrew Waters for stepping in at the
eleventh hour to judge at the Show. There is no way I would have been able
to make the journey to Norfolk. Thankyou once again Andrew!!!!
