Although there was a big, dark cloud hovering over Wadebridge, it managed not to burst over the display of quality cattle forward from four exhibitors in the Guernsey classes at this years Royal Cornwall Show. James and Shelley Warren, The Grose Family, Jezza Hitchens and Ian Rowe Produced the 24 cattle forward and it was great to see two of my fellow young breeders showing in their own right and also to see the younger ones out in the ring learning the tricks of the trade.
Due to the unfortunate decision made by DEFRA to suspend the movement of the Blue Tounge Protection Zone Boundary into Cornwall before the show, only exhibitors from Cornwall could attend this year. This meant the Guernsey's lost Cathryn Mills and Richard Norman's animals forward but were still well supported compared to some others breeds. Andrew Hope was the judge and he will provide a report on his reasons shortly.

Last class before the championship was the group of three with at least 2 animals bred by the exhibitor. This class was lead by a group from the Warrens, second the Groses' and 3rd was another group from the Warrens.
Back into the ring came the candidates for the championship where Andrew Hope had no hesitation giving this award to Senior Cow Laity Farm Primrose 96. Reserve also coming from The Warrens and this went to the Heifer in Milk, Tredinney Yogi's Gabrielle 2nd.

I really enjoyed my first visit to Royal Cornwall and will certainly be returing to the show next year. I wish all the Future Golden Breeders the best of luck for Friday's Showmanship Competions and The Warrens in the Dairy Interbreed Championship.

What we want to know is who the winning animals are, we knew who was
exhibiting at the show.

This is just a "placeholder" -- with information from the show's website.
This will be replaced when the report is received.
The show's website says "placed," so I am assuming - possibly wrongly -
that the 1, 2, 3 (above) means 1st, 2nd, 3rd.
If this is just a list of people who exhibited at the show, I will remove
it now.

What are you on about Ian?? Laura was at the show yesterday and wrote a
report on the classes. It is clear to me what cows won in each class. Are
you reading something different to what the rest of us are??
