The E.G.C.S. National Stock-judging Competition was held at the Royal Bath & West Show on Friday May 30th, 2008. The new revised format --- including a junior competition --- provided the best turnout for many years. Five teams from around the country and ten juniors took part. Our Master Judge for the day was Philip Cox, who gave an excellent account of his reasons and was only challenged a few times!!
Overall winner was our Chairman of Council, Nigel Kennard, who offered to auction off his "Pin" after the results were announced!! The winning team was from East Anglia with Devon second and Somerset third.
Top junior was Laura Sales with the Cornish duo of Jeremy Hichens and Morgan Senior in second and third respectively. The winning junior team was Laura, Charlotte Genduso and L. Heard from Devon and the Somerset team of the Langley girls, Jo, Elissa and Justina second. These girls are aged 11, 9 and 6 so well done to them for doing so well.
The South West Club also ran their competition alongside. The winner here was Laura Sales, with Brian Adams, Jon White and Jeremy Hichens equal second.

A big thank you to Caroline Cox and May Durbin for putting on a lovely lunch, to Graham Facks-Martin for working out the scores, Philip Cox for being Master Judge and to all the exhibitors and leaders for providing the cattle for the competition.
Finally another BIG thank you to Caroline and Philip for manning the Guernsey stand for the two show days. Without their support, there would have been no refreshments for our visitors.
