The Judges' Workshop this year was held by kind invitation of the Greenslade Family of Blackborough near Cullumpton in Devon.

Line Up Of Heifers in Milk
A rather disappointing turnout of nine senior judges, two Number 2 list judges and five probationers were present to place the three rings of cattle. This disappointment, however, was not reflected in the quality of the cattle on parade. Caroline and Emma had worked extremely hard to prepare the 18 animals with help from Jon White and others.

Junior Cows In Milk
Duncan Vincent was our Master Judge for the day and gave excellent reasons for placing the classes. Richard Emm obviously agreed with him as he gained top marks of 1370 out of a possible 1440. Equal second was James Warren and Chris Watson with 1340, followed by George Davies, Kim Sales, David Crouch, Colin Gleed and Andrew Hope respectively.
|
Senior Cows in Milk
The Number 2 list was topped by Rosemary Charman 1300 and Colin Evans with 1260.
Probationer Judges saw Cathryn Mills first with 1290, followed by Laura Sales 1270, and Adrian Salter 1260.

Colin Evans Gives His Reasons
After the judging we retired to the Village Hall where Caroline and Emma had prepared a feast. How they found time to prepare cows and food is a mystery to me!!
Due to the poor turnout, the Judging Committee will not be making any recommendations to Council this year.

Leaders Listen Intently
Hopefully next year we will see better attendance, when Colin Evans of Carmarthen will be hosting the event.
I would like to thank the Greenslade family for their hospitality, all their helpers, and Graham Facks-Martin for working out the Scores.
