The above figures represent the last 142 bulls with UK Proofs and have been sorted into 3 Groups, those marketed by Genus, those marketed by Others, mainly Bovex, Semex, Avoncroft and Western Cattle Breeders and finally those chosen by the EGCS Breeders, all of whom bar one (Sagittarius) were selected for use as young sires based on Average of their Parent Production Information.
I think the figures demonstrate that the "dictators" or should that be "true believers" have delivered real progress for the breed, and this has been done on a very finite budget with every group of bulls having to be self financing as well as providing significant financial support for EGCS.

This only serves to highlight the strong position of the modern, more milky
guernsey cow. The breed is improving and becoming more interesting to
farmers requiring an alternative to the holstein. Now is the time the breed
should make most headway, feed is becoming more and more expensive and the
guernsey will live and milk off grass. The society must not miss this
opportunity.
