August 2007 Bull Proofs

Details of the Proven bulls can be found on the
MDC Breeding Plus website.

The top GGBP bull for GMI is Meadowcourt Red Oak with a GMI of

+ 408, we have used a son recently(Trewarnevas Red Oak) but unfortunately Guernsey Island have no semen available.

Tiresford Pedro with a GMI of +378 has his first proof and is a similarly bred bull (JPR Oak out of a YC Ideal Clarion cow). however his dam is Tiresford Carmen 2 Ex 94 who is milking in her 8th lactation having given over 50,000 kgs and is perhaps the most complete cow bred in the UK.

There is plenty of semen available from Pedro and I expect EGCS Council to agree a release of semen shortly.

Two sons of Pedro have been selected for use in GGBP (Trewey Surprise and Les Jaonnets Pedro's Workman) and a third son Les Jaonnetts Cara's Conqueror will be collected in October, his dam Les Jaonnetts Keegans Cara was Champion at the Island Royal Show last month for the second year in a row.

Roselyn Glacier Holiday gained his first proof based on his US daughters and has a GMI 0f +318, whilst Jens Gold Glacier Hawk (GMI +327), Treloweth Harebells Hunter 2(GMI+317)Sniders Option Aaron (GMI+277),and Coulee Crest RO Silverado (GMI+256) have all improved since the May proof with more daughters added to the figures.

There is semen available from EGCS of Hawk, Hunter 2 and Aaron.

The 19 bulls used in the GGBP now proven average

+197 M +23 kgs F+P +0.12% F +0.02%P

+0.06 L/ft +0.54Mamm +232 GMI
