This year's Royal Cornwall Show saw a magnificent turnout of Guernsey Cattle rivaling The Royal Bath & West Show the previous week.  Eight exhibitors brought 36 cattle to show on a bright, but very breezy, first day. Judge Duncan Vincent had tough decisions to make in most classes, as befitted the quality of cattle that were on parade.

Clay Hill Chrissie 4

Champion animal was In-Milk heifer, Clay Hill Chrissie 4 by Tiller Khan. She had been Reserve Champion at Devon two weeks before and is proving to be an astute purchase from the Foords in Sussex by James Warren.  Reserve Champion was Laity Farm Primrose 97 from the same herd, who had claimed top spot at Devon previously.  Hon Mention was Trewey Juno 65 from the Manns. She is a daughter of the great Juno 38 (Bath & West and Royal Show winner) and is sired by Kelsmor May's Sonny Boy.  In fact Juno 38 was on parade here, showing great style and longevity in her sixth lactation, gaining a third place in the senior cow class.

There were a large number of Future Golden Breeders at the show, competing in the various calf and handling classes.  This is truly a family show where the youngest can try their hand at showing and have a great time in the process.  Well done to all exhibitors for providing an excellent turnout of cattle, proving the Guernsey Breed is here to stay and improving with every year that passes.
