Animal Information
Guernsey Animal Information
The Animal Information available from this new facility provides for the first time a continously updated source of breeding information for any and all Guernsey animals that are registered within the EGCS system. It provides information on demand and details of the GMI, Milk Records and Classification scores and also all progeny of both bulls and cows.
Each animal in the system can be viewed at the click of the mouse and the pages can be printed off screen. Some of the records stretch back as far as 1940. There are still a few gaps in the data but that should improve as the next proof run in Feb is added as the type information is recalculated.
Each "proven" bull has a bar chart showing the type traits and we are planning to provide lists of the bulls with semen available which again will be updated automatically after each quarterly proof run.
Please have a look at the Animal Information option and let us know at egcs@guernseycattle.com if you find any obvious errors/omissions in the data which we will correct as soon as possible. For the first time EGCS will be able to enter details of Classification of the Female ancestors of Imported bulls which will then appear on the Pedigrees, I will enter these details for the current US bulls and will add details of older bulls as soon as I can.

Guernsey Breeding Goals Questionnaire
Please have a look at the Questionnaire and fill it on line. Craig has adapted the Survey Software which will record your choices and automatically analyse the results. All UK herd owners have recieved the forms as have Guernsey Island herd owners, but we would be interested in any other opinions.

South Wales Calf Show 2006
The Annual Calf Show held at Carmarthen market on Saturday 23rd September 2006, saw five Dairy breeds competing.Guernsey numbers were badly affected by TB restrictions, but 3 exhibitors made the effort to support the section.

The 2006 show found the Blacknor team to the fore once again , but it was Ian Crouch's Cracker Duchess a second calver by Teak who was Champion in front of herd mate Luckley Ivy 25.

The August proofs are now published, clicking on the bulls name will you take you to the CDI website where you can view his pedigree and see his Progeny .

This table contains August proofs and HUK have managed to remove cows that are known to have left herds, if you do see a cow listed,that is no longer present then please let us know.

Guernsey Herd Companion Reports
EGCS and NMR have agreed to set up a Benchmarking group using data collected at the monthly milk recording. NMR members who wish to take part can download the Data Transfer permission forms from the NMR website.
